What’s New on HBO Max in April 2022

The other throwback is We Own This City (April 25), also based on a nonfiction book by Baltimore Sun reporter Justin Fenton, who delved into the dark saga of corruption within the Baltimore Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force, which ended with eight officers being convicted of graft and fraud in 2017. If this seems more than a little familiar, it’s because it isn’t wholly unlike the subject matter covered by The Wire, and whaddaya know: Both shows share a creator in Baltimore Sun veteran-turned-TV-legend-hero, David Simon.

And if you’re feeling nostalgia for pandemic TV, we’ve been in the shit long enough now that this month will also see the start of new seasons for a bunch of shows that launched during those dark days, including The Flight Attendant (April 21) and Made for Love (April 28). Also on tap: long overdue, pandemic-delayed new seasons of Barry (April 24) and Gentleman Jack (date TBA).
